DuraFlex Fireplace Services Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

How DuraFlex Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • DuraFlex 316Ti chimney liner: weld-seam separation at the flex point. The 316Ti’s corrugated stainless construction handles thermal cycling well, but in Leominster’s freeze-thaw climate, the seam weld at the first offset above the smoke chamber can work loose after 8-12 years. We camera-locate the separation, measure the gap, and sleeve it with a DuraFlex-compatible 316Ti section or transition to a HeatShield Cerfractory foam repair if the surrounding liner is sound. We never patch with generic flex; the alloy match matters for warranty preservation on adjacent components.
  • DuraFlex Pro gas insert: burner port clogging from condensate scale. The Pro series runs a lower flue temperature than standing pilot systems, which means more moisture lingers in the firebox. Over three to five Leominster winters, that condensate leaves a white calcium scale on the burner ports that reads as “low flame” or delayed ignition. We pull the burner assembly, ultrasonic-clean the ports, and check the drip loop on the condensate drain. If the drain line was never properly sloped during original install, we re-run it. This is a DuraFlex-specific pattern; generic gas techs often replace the entire valve when the fix is cleaning and drainage.
  • DuraFlex SL (smooth wall) liner: creosote bridging in the corrugation valleys. The SL’s smooth interior is marketed as self-cleaning, but the manufacturing corrugations still leave micro-valleys where Class III glazed creosote builds in Leominster’s heavy oak and maple burning season. Standard rotary brushing skips the valleys. We run a poly-bristle whip at controlled RPM with a vacuum-assist port, then camera-verify the wall finish. If the glaze has carbonized to the steel, we flag it in the photo record and quote replacement rather than sell a sweep that won’t solve it.
  • DuraFlex damper assembly: fatigue in the tension spring on top-sealing models. The top-sealing damper on DuraFlex-compatible factory-built fireplaces uses a stainless tension spring that weakens predictably after roughly 15,000 open-close cycles. In Leominster’s older Colonials near Monument Square, where fireplaces get evening use six months a year, we see this at 10-14 years. The symptom is a damper that “almost” seals or chatters in wind. We stock the OEM spring and cam assembly, but we also carry a Gelco conversion kit when the throat geometry has shifted and the DuraFlex spec no longer seats clean.
  • DuraFlex firebox refractory panel: thermal-shock cracking on the rear wall. The refractory panels in DuraFlex wood-burning fireplaces are 1.25-inch cast ceramic rated to 2100°F, but rapid temperature swings, common when homeowners light a cold fire with compressed starters, spider-cracks the rear panel vertically. The crack itself is not always a hazard, but it exposes the metal wrapper to direct flame. We camera and photograph the crack depth, replace with factory-spec DuraFlex refractory or quote a HeatShield cast-in-place repair when the wrapper is still sound and the customer wants to avoid a full firebox teardown.

Our DuraFlex Fireplace Services Process

Our DuraFlex Fireplace Services Process
  1. 1
Call and schedule. A live person answers, confirms your DuraFlex model if you know it, and books a two-hour arrival window. You get a text when your tech is en route.
  2. 2
Camera inspection first. The camera goes up first. Everything else follows the footage. We run a full NFPA 211 Level 2 inspection with a documented photo record, Clause 4 of the Haven Standard, before any tool leaves the van.
  3. 3
Written price, written scope. Corrine Halstead or your assigned tech delivers a line-item quote: parts, labor, warranty term. No verbal estimates. No “we’ll see once we’re in there.” Clause 1 of the Haven Standard: have it in writing.
  4. 4
Parts decision: OEM or quality aftermarket. We source DuraFlex factory parts through our Haven buying network when the series is current and the warranty matters. For discontinued lines, we spec Olympia Chimney or Gelco equivalents that meet the same UL 1777 listing, and we document the substitution in your record.
  5. 5
Repair, test, and document. We complete the work, run a combustion or draft test depending on fuel type, and add completion photos to your file. You get a written warranty and a copy of the photo record.
  6. 6
365-Day Done Right Promise. If the damper chatters, the burner pops, or anything we touched needs adjustment, we return and make it right. No charge. No argument.

What DuraFlex Fireplace Services Costs in Leominster

Service Typical Range
Gas fireplace tune-up (DuraFlex Pro, insert, or factory-built) $189 - $265
Wood-burning fireplace sweep and Level 2 inspection $229 - $340
Burner port cleaning and condensate drain re-run (DuraFlex Pro) $340 - $485
Damper spring/cam replacement or Gelco conversion $485 - $720
Refractory panel replacement (single panel, DuraFlex firebox) $650 - $1,100
316Ti liner section repair or transition sleeve $1,200 - $2,400
Full firebox HeatShield Cerfractory rebuild $1,800 - $3,200

Three things move the price: access (steep roof, tight chase, or finished basement surround), parts availability (current DuraFlex stock vs. special order), and what the camera finds. A burner cleaning quoted at $340 becomes a $650 job if the gas valve is failing, but you see the valve pressure reading and the photo before we proceed. Every estimate is free. Call (978) 481-2900.

Why Leominster Homeowners Call Level Two Chimney Leominster for DuraFlex Work

We’ve inspected and cleaned chimneys in Leominster since 2009, including the tight flue runs in the Colonial-era homes near Monument Square where a standard flex liner won’t even make the turn. Corrine Halstead grew up in Queens, trained at Apex Technical School in Long Island City, and spent the better part of two decades working central Massachusetts chimneys before building Level Two Chimney Leominster. Her crew knows DuraFlex 316Ti from DuraVent, a Pro insert from a SL liner, and when a HeatShield or Gelco solution saves the customer a full replacement.

Our techs are background-checked, uniformed, and named on your appointment. Your license number is on the page and on the invoice. The 365-Day Done Right Promise is stamped on every job. And if another company handed you a written estimate that doesn’t sit right, our Free Second Opinion is exactly that: free, with a camera inspection and a written comparison.
